Whispers of His Power – JANUARY 8

Whispers of His Power – JANUARY 8

Matt. 4.19: I will make you fishers of men.

Luke S.5: We have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing.

We may be tempted to discouragement, if we have toiled all the night and taken nothing that can be brought ashore in a net.

Between Revelation 4 and 11 there is a mysterious story of battle.  Sometimes there is defeat, darkness, clash and clamour of spirit.  But all through, strung like golden bead, on a thread running through the story, there are songs – seven songs, the perfect number.  After the seventh song was sung the seventh angel sounded, ‘and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ;  and He shall reign for ever and ever’ (Rev. 11.15).

What will it be when the last of the seven songs is sung and we all join in the song of unimaginable joy, ‘We give Thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come;  because Thou hast taken to Thee Thy great power, and hast reigned.’ (Rev. 11.17)  And we are a week nearer that than we were last week, when we toiled all night and took nothing.

oooOOOooo
