It is not at all easy to be hilarious about certain things.  We can give some things so very joyfully that it is easy to be a hilarious giver – there is no effort at all.  But it is a different matter where some other things are in question.  And yet, who chose what we are to give?

The one vital thing is to let Him choose, and not allow the ‘I’ in us a chance to say anything about it.  Then He who loves us best will draw near to us and make His joy our strength.  That is the secret of hilarious giving.  It is the old word used in another way:

So I can do this thing through Christ who strengthens me.  I can; I will; for it is God who works in me both to will and to do.
