Whispers of His Power – FEBRUARY 5
Ps. 51.10: Create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a right spirit within me.
‘We can do little things for God. I turn the cake that is frying in the pan for love of Him, and afterwards, if there is nothing else to call me, I prostrate myself in worship before Him who has given me grace to work. Afterwards I rise happier than a king … It is enough for me to pick up a straw for the love of God.’ So wrote Brother Lawrence.
Sometimes, when asked to do something we do not want to do, instead of gladness there is gloom. How that must hurt Him, whose love has so tenderly followed our lives from the first day until now. How can we ever have the heart to hurt such love? God forgive us and renew a right spirit within us, and help us from this time forth to pick up our straw, whatever it may be, for the love of God. Not with gloom, but with gladness.
