Whispers of His Power – APRIL 8
Eph. 3.14-19: I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ… that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able… to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.
The Holy Spirit is never an end in Himself. There is always a ‘that’, a leading on to something beyond. Notice the three times repeated ‘that’ in Ephesians 3.14-19.
The Spirit of God always leads on to the Christ of God. He strengthens with might in the inner man that Christ may dwell in our hearts by faith; that we being rooted and grounded in love may go on to comprehend that love; that as the empty shell on the shore is filled with the fullness of the sea as it washes up and over it, so we may be filled to the brim and to overflowing with the fullness of God. And God is Love.
So always we come back again to love. Beloved, let us love. (1 John 4.7).
