It is all to easy for Christians to retreat into the comfort of ‘We’ve always done it that way’ and to neglect the gifts that pother bring to our common life. We need to learn to live our motto ‘Open to God, Open to All’.
Preaching the Gospel is good and performing works of charity is wonderful but if we do this without forgiveness towards others the are powerless words and empty deeds
When Christians disagree we know the only thing to do is to talk ‘to’ each other. Why then do we so often give into the temptation to talk ‘about’ each other instead?
There is only one Rule by which to live and that is to live for others.
If God wants to tell the world of a generous love and forgiveness that is free for everyone why does Jesus tell Peter he should talk about him?
Faith is slippery.
We can be tempted to think our faith is small and not easily see God’s hand in our life.
We can also fall into the hubris of thinking our faith is ‘great’ and better than that of others.
Our faith grows by becoming deeper not bigger.
The Call to walk in the footsteps of Christ is not a sinecure. It will bring us joy but it will also be costly and we will be tempted to give up on it. When that happens listen to the Music of the Call.
Our Beloved like the wise steward cherishes and treasures all sorts of people regardless of how they value themselves.
