Gradual Hymns for the Sundays of the Year

Proper 13B – Ordinary 18B – Mark 6.14-29

I am the Bread of Life

Tune: Gweedore [66 66 88]
(Hills of the North Rejoice)

I am the Bread of Life,
gift of the Father’s love.
Work not for that which wanes,
but for food that endures.
Come eat with me, don’t hesitate,
And feast today at heaven’s board.

Not like the bread of old,
which your forebears once ate.
Work for this true manna,
and never hunger more.
Believe on Christ, walk in His way,
and never ever want for more.

I am the Bread of Life,
gift of the Father’s love.
Freely I give to all
who turn to follow me.
An end to thirst and heart’s hunger,
new life eternal waits for you.
