Resisting the Prowling Lion – 40 Days with Screwtape
A Lenten Journey with C.S. Lewis and Screwtape.
It was in Lent 2023 that I first circulated these reflections on ‘The Screwtape Letters’. Here in Felixstowe, Churches Together are studying the book ‘Not a Tame Lion’ so it seemed an opportune time to send them around again (with some revisions) and include them on my blog as well as by daily email.
If you would like to continue to receive these reflections then you need do nothing at all and I will attempt to send them as usual.
If you know of someone else who would like them please let me know.
If you no longer want to receive them please let me know and I will remove you email address my circulation list
“The best way to drive out the devil,
If he will not yield to the texts of scripture
Is to jeer and flout him,
For he cannot bear scorn”
“The devil….the prowde spirite….
Cannot endure to be mocked.”
From the Frontspiece of “The Screwtape Letters”
There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them. They themselves are equally pleased by both errors and hail a materialist or a magician with the same delight.
(From The Author’s Preface)
May you have a blessed and fruitful Lent.
