Being and Doing

Being and Doing – 25 December – Christmas

Being and Doing – 25 December – Christmas

GLORY to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good-will toward men.

S. Luke il. 14

LIKE circles widening round

Upon a clear blue river,

Orb after orb, the wondrous sound

Is echoed on for ever:

Glory to God on high, on earth be peace,

And love towards men of love – salvation and release.

KEBLE

LET all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil-speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:  And be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Ephesians iv. 32

I WILL honour Christmas in my heart.   I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future.   The spirits of all three shall strive within me.   I will not shut out the lessons which they teach.

DICKENS

oooOOOooo

These quotes are from ‘Being and Doing’ A selection of helpful thoughts from various authors arranged for daily reading.

Collected by Constance M Whishaw and first published in 1908 for members of the Being and Doing Guild whose object is to do all they can for the relief of suffering and misery.

Most of the writers are 19th Century Christians from Britain and Europe who were committed to living their faith through deeds as well as words – Being AND Doing.

For many years these words have kept me company and encouraged me on the journey of faith.  I hope they will encourage others also.
