Being and Doing – 9 February – Character
NOBLENESS of character is nothing but steady love of good, and steady scorn of evil.
NOBLENESS of character is nothing but steady love of good, and steady scorn of evil.
Let us do our work as well,
Both the unseen and the seen;
EACH hour has its lesson, and each life;
And if we miss our life we shall not find
Its lesson in another.
But duty, more than crown or palm,
Its own exceeding recompense.
The duties of home are a discipline for the ministries of heaven.
THE performance of a duty is never a useless office,
never be ashamed of doing right;
Do not look at life’s long sorrow,
See how small each moment’s pain;
God will help thee for to-morrow,
So each day begin again.
new beginnings are the life of perseverance.
YOU have a disagreeable duty to do at twelve o’clock.
Do not blacken nine and ten and all between with the colour of twelve.
