Whispers of His Power – JANUARY 1

Whispers of His Power – JANUARY 1

Matt. 24.45: Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his Lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

This morning as I read of the faithful and wise servant, who gave meat in due season to his Lord’s household, I felt he had at least the great help of being with his fellow-servants.  He could not help knowing what kind of meat to give to one and another, and also he would know the due season.  Whereas I can’t be with you, and so I can’t watch as I should wish to do, and have the right sort of meat ready for the due season.

At last I found help in remembering who was in charge of the storehouse.  The One in charge knows all that I don’t know.  It is He, then, who chooses the meat, now for this one, now for that, and I have only to pass it on.

Often I have found that what has fed my own soul has fed another, so I will give you the word that was meat in due season to me last night.  It was Psalm 119.76 (RV): Let Thy lovingkindness be for my comfort.

There are times when the least thing in the world we feel we deserve is comfort, and yet there it is.  The everlasting loving-kindness of the Lord our God is ever on its way to comfort us.  It is like the love of the father who ran to meet his son.  It is like love itself, something that never fails.

oooOOOooo
