The Wonder of the Cross – 40 Days with the Music of Vicky Beeching
Day 15 – Friday after Lent 2 – Forever More
To Read:
From the Scriptures:
For now we see only a reflection, as in a mirror, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known. 13 And now faith, hope, and love remain, these three, and the greatest of these is love.
(1 Corinthians 13v12-13)
From Vicky Beeching:
Forever More
You know me completely, like no other could
You love me so freely, when no other would
Your love’s a mystery
For all eternity I’ll be with You
You have won my heart forever more
You are mine and I’m forever Yours
You are my desire, my treasure in this life
And You have won my heart forever more
One day I will see You, standing face to face
One day I’ll run into my Savior’s strong embrace
It’s such a mystery
For all eternity, I’ll be with You
Chorus
Jesus, how I love You
Jesus, how I love You
My heart is Yours, forever more
Chorus
To Listen: ‘Forever More’ by Vicky Beeching:
To Reflect:
The more I listen to Vicky’s music the more I think she is related to Sandy Olsson from the movie ‘Grease’[1]. She is head over heels in love with our Beloved and, do you know what, I am more than a tad jealous of her and others who are ‘hopelessly devoted’ to the One Who Loves us Best.

It really shouldn’t be that difficult should it?
God gave us everything.
We messed it up (and continue to so do).
God defeated sin.
God conquered death.
God loved us back to life.
All we need do is love back a little.
But…
Yes I know, we are all different and our Beloved meets all of us in different ways in our various different trysting places, and one day I will walk down the heavenly aisle – with the rest of the Church – and be cherished as the Bride of Christ for all eternity.
Surely not me? I know me. I know I am more like the strumpet Aldonza than the chaste Dulcinea cherished by the Man of La Mancha (nothing much has changed since I wrote this blog way back in 2018!).
How can I face this love? It is too much for me. Surely if I ever came face-to-face with our Beloved I would hang my head in shame and turn my face away. But hopeless devotion calls us to turn towards the Beauty of His Face and when we do we are lost in a love that covers our shame, cleanses our sin, and call us to shine.
…and knowing that we are lost we find ourselves finally found.
Laus Deo.
To Pray:

Love, thou didst enter very softly in
To hold this heart of mine.
No sound, no stir, no sign!
How couldst thou cross my threshold all unseen?
O Love, thou fire divine,
of laughter spun;
Love that art smile and jest,
Thou giv’st us of thy best,
Thy wealth unmeasured that is never done.
O sweet and gentle Love, thou art the key
Of heaven’s city and fort:
Steer thou my ship to port,
And from the tempest’s fury shelter me.
(Jacopone da Todi)
To Do:
Print out the words to George Herbert’s ‘Love Bade me Welcome’ and keep it in your Bible, Prayer Book or Journal to turn to every time you feel a little unworthy of the love of the One Who Loves us Best
Just for Fun:
Sigh over some ‘hopeless devotion’…..
oooOOOooo
