IF it were – if it might be – if it could be – if it had been. One portion of mankind go through life always regretting, always whining, always imagining.
A CONSIDERATION of petty circumstances is the tomb of great things.
OF nothing can we be more sure than this: that, if we cannot sanctify our present lot, we could sanctify no other.
NEVER should we forget the close connection between character and service, between inward nobleness and outward philanthropy.
LIFE is a succession of lessons, which must be lived to be understood.
HE who lives without a definite purpose achieves no higher end than to serve as a warning to others.
