Hunny! 40 Days in the 100 Aker Wood – Day 5

Man’s powers of conquering temptation, of despising danger, of being true to principle, have never been even indicated, save in Christ.
… ONE conviction I have gained from the experience of the last years – life is not jest and amusement; life is not even enjoyment… life is hard labour.
…we, with our friends in the 100 Aker Wood, are all bears of small brain and it takes time for the truth to sink into our sawdust filled heads.
DON’T waste life in doubts and fears; spend yourself on the work before you
Like Christopher Robin and Pooh, we should learn to be slow to complain – “You didn’t exactly miss,” – and quick to apologise – “I’m so sorry,”. Having done this and ensured harmony in the Body of Christ, we can take aim again and have another go at the real problem instead of beating up each other.
OUR duty is to be useful, not according to our desires but according to our powers.
Lent is given to us so that we may have the opportunity to love one another more deeply through the means of loving ourselves a little bit less.
EVERY joy is gain, and gain is gain, however small.
Fasting is not about giving up on stuff but instead is about giving up on the direction we face.
