The soul that trifles and toys with self-sacrifice never can get its true joy and power.
Sow an act, and you reap a habit;
Sow a habit, and you reap a character ;
Sow a character, and you reap a destiny.
…you could not do more for yourself than by this thankful spirit; for it heals with a word spoken, and turns all that it touches into happiness.
Every complaining spirit… implied some dissatisfaction with God’s decrees, and a good deal of self love.
God Almighty loves thee better and more wisely than thou dost thyself.
Having given everything away to love and serve God the work, though difficult is not demanding, though dealing with dark places is full of light and, even when walking amongst intense sadness there is to be found an immense amount of joy!
God bless the good-natured, for they bless everybody else.
Few of us, indeed, realise the wonderful privilege of living; the blessings we inherit; the glories and beauties of the universe, which is our own if we choose to have it so;
MANY of our cares are but a morbid way of looking at our privileges. We let our blessings get mouldy, and then call them ‘ curses.’
