The Wonder of the Cross – Day 15 – Forever More
Love, thou didst enter very softly in
To hold this heart of mine.
No sound, no stir, no sign!
How couldst thou cross my threshold all unseen?
Love, thou didst enter very softly in
To hold this heart of mine.
No sound, no stir, no sign!
How couldst thou cross my threshold all unseen?
In the end it’s not about ‘wars and rumours of war’ nor is it about ‘one person being taken and the other left’. It is about keeping our eyes on Jesus.
It is about living Advent lives, watching and waiting and working for the Return of the King.
We have a King who forgives – we are called to be a people who forgive.
We have a King who saves – we are called to be a people who offer salvation.
We have a King who is innocent – we are called to be a people who, even imperfectly…aim to live lives of purity.
We have a King who remembers – we are called to be a people who will not leave anyone out of the arms of love stretched out on the Cross.
The parable of the Rich Fool, and in fact the whole of Luke Chapter 12, is not about money, nor about bread, nor even about barns. Believing is not about seeing things…

When is comes to ‘Doubting Thomas’ we are tempted to repeat the old saying ‘seeing is believing’ when in fact believing consists in ‘not seeing’ and proclaiming Jesus as Lord and God.
In a time when Wedding Feasts are permitted and even some Weddings are cancelled Jesus comes to be our guest and in our despair and darkness speaks of Light, Life and Love
Faith is slippery.
We can be tempted to think our faith is small and not easily see God’s hand in our life.
We can also fall into the hubris of thinking our faith is ‘great’ and better than that of others.
Our faith grows by becoming deeper not bigger.
