Being and Doing – 1 August – Service
IT IS the business of anybody who can, to set right what anybody has set wrong.
IT IS the business of anybody who can, to set right what anybody has set wrong.
Jesus’ parables reminds us that God is indeed ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’.
There is no place too small or insignificant to be home to God’s reign.
Neither is there anywhere where the influence of the Gospel of love and inclusion cannot spread.
The Kingdom of Heaven is a place where people who seek truth and love will find great treasure.
Be as simple and natural as possible about everything. Try always to see clearly that right is right and wrong is wrong.
IT is this power of perishing to give rise to something beyond and greater than itself, or being worn out in the act of producing something nobler than itself, that constitutes the worth of any created thing
DUTY may regulate the hours of life towards others
Love takes charge of its moments.
God calls us by name, casts away our fears and watches over us, that we may tell others that God is calling their name as well.
Life finds its noblest spring of excellence in this hidden impulse to do our best.
In planning the future for a community it is too easy to concentrate on getting to the goal and then leave people on the wayside. Instead of travelling on motorways perhaps Shared Space where everyone has a voice is a better way to travel?
It is of no moment, as a matter of pride or perfectness in herself, whether she knows many languages or one; but it is of the utmost, that she should be able to show kindness to a stranger, and to understand the sweetness of a stranger’s tongue.
Christians are called to be ready to give ‘account for the hope that is within us’ but how do we do that with ‘gentleness and respect’ and only ‘when asked’? Too easily we proclaim a Gospel of condemnation rather than a Gospel of love
