Being and Doing – 4 July – Self-Sacrifice
IT is this power of perishing to give rise to something beyond and greater than itself, or being worn out in the act of producing something nobler than itself, that constitutes the worth of any created thing
Being and Doing – 3 July – Symmetry of Life
Your joy was freely to impart
Your best, and ask for nought again;
No selfish greed, no lack of power,
Defiled your bounties’ kindly shower.
Being and Doing – 2 July – The Higher Life
SELF-EASE is pain, thy only rest
To labour for a worthy end.
Being and Doing – 1 July – Purpose
Out of self to love be led
And to heaven acclimated
Until all things sweet and good
Seem my natural habitude
Being and Doing – 30 June – Purpose
We live in an age when, at all costs, men seek for personal aggrandisement, or for the intoxication of passing pleasure.
Being and Doing – 29 June – Purpose
Do as well as you can to-day, and perhaps to-morrow you may be able to do better.
Being and Doing – 28 June – Purpose
Act, act in the living Present!
Heart within and God o’erhead!
Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time;
Being and Doing – 27 June – Growth
LIFE never seems so clear and easy as when the heart is beating faster at the sight of some generous, self-risking deed.
Being and Doing – 26 June – Our One Life
DUTY may regulate the hours of life towards others
Love takes charge of its moments.
Being and Doing – 25 June – Purpose
AN IDEAL may seem unattainable, but when it is distinctly acknowledged as the object of aspiration, it will be found close at hand.
