Whispers of His Power – JUNE 15

Whispers of His Power – JUNE 15

Ps. 97.11-12:  Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous;  and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness.

Some of us, perhaps, have mentally passed on to others the promise of Psalm 97.11, but not felt it belonged to us because we could not class ourselves among the righteous and upright.  Yet in His wonderful love the Lord has continually done for us what we know we do not deserve.

Verse 12 of Psalm 97 illuminates verse 11.  Is there one of us who cannot rejoice in Him who loved us and gave Himself for us?  The least of us can rejoice in Him and give thanks as we remember His holiness.

It is very wonderful that all He asks of us is this – this that we cannot help doing when we see our Lord. He says:  ‘If only you will turn your eyes from yourself to Me, your God and your eternal Lover, then I shall be free to sow My shining seeds on either side of your path, so that you will walk in it gathering flowers of gladness all the way.’

Nothing can shut up His hand from sowing seeds of light.  As we go on, doing the will of our Father quite irrespective of personal likes and dislikes, we shall find that He sows these seeds overnight.  By dawn there is a springing up of new green things, and long before the sun is hot the buds have opened into flowers.  Don’t let us miss these flowers.  Let us enjoy them and give them to others.

oooOOOooo
