Whispers of His Power – JULY 6
Job 28.3,10: He setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out all perfection. He cutteth out rivers among the rocks; and His eye seeth every precious thing.
John 8.43: Why do ye not understand My speech? even because ye cannot hear My word.
‘So you will ride at ease over the breakers of this mortal life, and not care too much what befalls you – not from carelessness but from the soaring gladness of heavenly love’ wrote Janet Erskine Stuart. But sometimes the breakers can seem rather breaking, and then words of Job can help.
He setteth an end to darkness. This will not go on for ever.
He cutteth out rivers among the rocks. Often one can only see rocks and jungle, but the river is there. We can hear its flowing.
Let us take comfort from the thought of the End. Our God setteth an end to every kind of darkness. The morning comes, a morning without clouds. We are facing towards the morning all the time.
Till then, while we are still in darkness, and in the place where we can see nothing but rocks, let us find our way to the river-bed and drink of the water He gives us, and go on our way refreshed.
May the Lord help us to hear His word, that we may understand His speech and miss nothing of what He has to give us day by day.
oooOOOooo
