Whispers of His Power – AUGUST 22

Whispers of His Power – AUGUST 22

Phil. 1.10:  That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ.

‘So that you may test the things that differ’ is Bishop Moule’s version in his Philippian Studies.

Almost the first thing a baby learns to do is to test things that differ.  Put a new thing in a baby’s hand and watch it.  It turns it round, looks at it, tries to bite it.  Once when I was small I put a piece of soap in my mouth thinking it was butter.  I never did that again.

Paul prayed that the people of Philippi might approve the things that are excellent – not go on eating soap when they found it was not butter.  What about us?  Do we test and approve the excellent?  That means, are we doing every single thing, great and small, seen and unseen, as unto the Lord?

oooOOOooo
