Whispers of His Power – SEPTEMBER 11

Exod. 19.16-19:  There were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud;  so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.  And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.

Mark 9.7:  And there was a cloud that overshadowed them:  and a voice came out of the cloud, saying,  This is my Beloved Son: hear Him.

After the wonder of the feeding of the multitudes, and the walk on the sea, and the healing of many, after all these marvels: There was a cloud that overshadowed them, and they feared as they entered into the cloud.

It is often like that:  it was so with Moses.  First in his experience came the bush that was not consumed, and the amazing doing of his God in Egypt, and by the Red Sea, and in the wilderness.  Then came a thick cloud upon the mount.

But with Moses in that thick cloud was his God, and Moses spoke and God answered him by a voice.  Peter also spoke, and a voice came out of the cloud.  It is always so;  in the cloud is a Presence and a Voice.  The Voice says to us, This is My beloved Son: hear Him.  THIS that has come upon you like a cloud, THIS is the Presence of My beloved Son and your beloved Saviour;  hear Him.  And when we listen we hear Him say, ‘It is I, be not afraid.’
