Whispers of His Power – APRIL 17
Phil. 4.13: I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Eph. 3.20, 21: Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto Him be glory.
When the Israelites were told not to gather manna on Saturday (their Sabbath) God made it possible for them to do without it by giving a double quantity on Friday. (Exod. 16.22-6.) If for any good reason we cannot gather our spiritual food on some particular day, God makes it all right. But this does not alter the ordinary rule of daily gathering our daily portion.
When, later on, God told the people that in the seventh year they were not to sow or even reap the grain that grew of itself, or gather the fruit that ripened on the undressed vines, it was a great test of faith (Lev. 25.1-5).
With the command came God’s promise (Lev. 25.18-22) He would give His special blessing in the sixth year, so that enough for three years would be gathered in that one year.
This is an illustration of what the Lord is always doing. He is continually asking us to do the impossible, and promising that He will make it possible. And as we obey, He does. Think of the things you thought quite impossible to face, but you have faced them, sometimes to your private astonishment for you know that of yourself you couldn’t.
We don’t live on the natural plane. We are expected to count on the supernatural every time. Perhaps that was at the back of Paul’s mind when he wrote, without an ‘if’ or a ‘but’ or a single reserve of any sort, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
oooOOOooo
