Whispers of His Power – APRIL 21
1 John 1.7- 9: If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Clement wrote: ‘Let us gaze at the Blood of Christ and recognize how precious it is to His Father, because, poured out for our salvation, it brought the grace of repentance to all the world.’
Do we ever fail to recognize how precious the Blood of His Son is to the Father? Do we ever ask lightly to be forgiven, forgetting the cost of that forgiveness?
I remember as a small child seeing some fern seedlings belonging to a friend of my mother’s, and I wanted them very much. If I had asked for them they would have been given to me, but I was too shy to ask. I said to my little brother, ‘We might take them, and at night we could confess and be forgiven’
I don’t remember what we did, but my chief memory – and it has lasted all these years – is one of shame for thinking such a thought. That kind of thought is the very opposite of Clement’s when he wrote those words about the preciousness of the Blood of Christ.
oooOOOooo
