Whispers of His Power – MAY 17

Whispers of His Power – MAY 17

Ps. 9.16 (LXX):  A Song of Pause.

Ps. 10.17 (LXX):  The Lord has heard the desire of the poor:  Thine ear has inclined to the preparation of their heart.

Higgaion Selah.  Does that mean anything to you?  In the LXX it is A Song of Pause.  In the AV the translation is meditation, and elsewhere resounding music.  It seems something like our Dawn Chorus, when the birds burst into song and then are still, and then fall to singing again.  That lovely hour is a Song of Pause.

Could there be a lovelier name for our morning quiet time with our Lord?  A time of worship and adoration which is stillness, meditation, resounding music, listening and prayer?  There could be no lovelier name, either, for the whole day, if only we learnt to keep it as a Song of Pause.

Don’t rush into God’s Presence as though it were a common thing.  We have a God who notices the preparation of the heart.  Micah 6.8 tells us to walk humbly with our God, and then we have His promise that He Himself will prepare our heart.  Lord, Thou hast heard the desire of the humble: Thou wilt prepare their heart, Thou wilt cause Thine ear to hear.

oooOOOooo
