Whispers of His Power – MAY 24
Prov. 19.23: The fear of the Lord tendeth to life.
If the fear of the Lord (the reverence of the Lord) tends to life, then anything irreverent tends to death. It is to death that the devil is continually seeking to lure us.
How can we prepare ourselves so that we may be usable to the utmost, either to speak for our Lord or to pray? One certain way lies along the line of reverence. A test question is: ‘What is our attitude when we are shown something wrong in ourselves?’ If someone else has pointed it out, is our first reaction, ‘Who told him? Do others know? What do they think?’ If self-pity and self-justification are our response, or if we sit down in depression, then we have missed something. The reverence of the Lord is not in us.
Calvary is not the tremendous thing that matters most to us. Our ‘I’ has risen up. We do not see our sins as the nails that pierced our Saviour’s hands and feet. We do not feel ourselves to be the hammer driving in again those torturing nails.
Let us take off our shoes from off our feet in His burning presence that He may search and purge us, and prepare us for His service.
oooOOOooo
