Whispers of His Power – JUNE 13
John 17.20: Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on Me through their word.
There is always attack upon prayer. How little we know of victory in that field. There is comfort for us in a sentence in the Communion Service: Not weighing our merits but pardoning our offences.’ There is still stronger comfort in the loving words of our Lord Jesus: Neither pray I for these alone. We begin our times of prayer as His pardoned and prayed-for ones, made nigh by the blood of Christ as Ephesians 2.13 tells us.
Sometimes, through illness or other causes, we find it hard to put our prayers into words. If prayer of the sort we long for is impossible, try giving up trying, and instead just let the Psalms or other great Scriptures turn themselves into prayers. ‘An inspired prayer implies an answer.’
