Whispers of His Power – JULY 14
Ps. 4.1: Hear me when I call, O God of my righteous-ness: Thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me and hear my prayer.
A snail which appeared to be dead was fixed to a tablet in the British Museum and kept there for four years. One day someone noticed that it had a new door epiphragm is the scientific name). This was astonishing. He took the snail off the tablet and put it into warm water and it revived and came out of its shell. Next day it had a meal of cabbage and began to mend its somewhat broken shell.
No snail that ever was created would choose to be fixed on a tablet in the British Museum. Some of us sometimes feel ‘fixed on a tablet’, when we are not able to do what we naturally wish to do. The snail has a fine word for us. There is just one way of peace for those who want to be good snails. It is much easier to write of it than to do it, but (Phil. 4.13) Through Christ which strengtheneth me can make it possible. Take Rotherham’s version of Psalm 4.1, In a strait place Thou hast made room for me, and till the day of ‘enlargement’ comes, be contented with the strait place – like that snail.
oooOOOooo
