Whispers of His Power – AUGUST 16

Mark 6.49-50:  But when they saw Him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:  for they all saw Him, and were troubled.  And immediately He talked with them, and saith unto them,  Be of good cheer: it is I;  be not afraid.

Have you ever had a good time with your Lord and then afterwards been tempted to wonder if it was really all you had believed it was?  Was it truly a divine touch that you felt on your spirit?  Was it truly His very own voice that you heard?  Or was it just a feeling, imagination, not true?

The Aramaic of Mark 6.49 is, ‘They thought it was a false vision… And immediately He spoke to them, and said, Have courage, it is I, do not be afraid.’

It will be for us as it was for those troubled men.  In moments of temptation, when we doubt and fear about the reality of our experience, He will speak with us.  He will say,

‘Have courage.  It is I.  It was I:  it was no false vision.  Do not be afraid.’  And then we shall go on to prove His presence in the common life of common days.
