Exod. 25.40: And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was shewed thee in the mount.
What was the pattern for our work that was shown on the mount?
A work which was set on the glory of the Lord.
A work whose workers were all truly the Lord’s.
A work full of love and joy and hope and peace.
A work hidden from the eye of man, but open to the eye of God, at all points searched by Him, lest at any time lesser aims should creep in.
A work whose needs are supplied by the Lord Himself, in answer to prayer based upon His own word.
This was the pattern which was shown on the mount. Lord, grant us grace to remember it and follow it.
Cause us to abound in hope, and to watch as those who must give account.
Hide us from the scourge of the tongue, but teach us how to find any help there is to be found in criticism and innuendo.
Make us far more intensely in earnest and cause us to press on – on to the goal.
