Whispers of His Power – SEPTEMBER 29

John 14.2:  In My Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you.

These words hold out a glorious hope.  ‘Mansions’ does not mean big houses, but the resting places on the old Roman roads where a traveller was refreshed before setting forth again on his journey.

So we can picture the servants of the Lord who have been about His business here, serving Him there without any hindrance, and travelling for Him to far regions.  (Where are all the people who have never heard of Him here?  Perhaps we shall be sent to them.)

Westcott says that ‘the contrasted notions of repose and progress are combined in this vision of the future.  We shall never be tired on those journeys, and we shall never fail.

And His servants shall serve Him:  and they shall see His face;  and His name shall be in their foreheads (Rev. 22.3, 4).  As we think of that, we shall not find it so hard to be faithful in a very little(Luke 19.7) for a short time here.
