Whispers of His Power – AUGUST 19
Isa. 63.7: I will mention the loving kindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which He hath bestowed on them according to His mercies, and according to the multitude of His loving kindnesses.
All kinds of things are reminders of the lovingkindness of the Lord. Friends, letters, flowers, pictures, all these and many more speak of the wonderful lovingkindness of our God to us who are unworthy of even one of His good gifts. As we think of all His love has already given us, and of the multitude of His loving kindnesses which we have experienced, our prayer becomes glad and grateful and full of thanksgiving. Prayer starts from a place of joy and confidence.
But sometimes we are tempted to discouragement. So often we have believed that what we asked was about to be given, and then have been disappointed. But delays are for the trial of faith, not for its discouragement. Often we have had to wait for years for our best and dearest gifts. When they came we looked up to our Lord in adoration, ‘Lord, this was worth waiting for’. So it will be again. He has done so much for us. Will He not also do this that we ask Him today?
